MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows fans duo of Sizwe Dlamini and Malungelo Mndzebele couldn’t watch their team crash to Matsapha United in the SwaziBank Cup game on Sunday.

The duo was detained by police officers at the Lobamba Police station after they were engaged in an argument with an unidentified fan. They were taken to the police station ahead of the kick-off and brought back to the stadium with only about 10 minutes remaining before full time.

“We are angry at the way police officers handled the matter. We were just taken at the stadium after a small argument with another fan to the police station and we were made to stay there until towards the end of the match. It was never explained to us why were detained but they only told us they were investigating us on what happened at the stadium,” said Sizwe, who hardly misses Swallows’ games. Dlamini said there were no charges laid against them and they were only told they would be called to the police station if they are needed.

“We went to Somhlolo to watch our favourite team but the police denied us that chance. We had to spend over an hour at the police station without any clear explanation and we are not happy about this. I was even made to believe that this was done deliberately to stop us from watching our team,” he said.
