MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers directors have jumped out of their skins following baseless reports about their sacking.

The directors, comprising South Africa-based Chairman, Bheki Shongwe, and the duo of Peter Mathaba and Themba Fakudze, were said to have been offloaded by a task team made up of members of the defunct supporters structure.  Shongwe laughed off the reports and categorically stated that the reports were misleading and were solely meant to destabilise the team.

“The last time I checked there was no task team at Manzini Wanderers. Such a body is endorsed by the directors. It’s impossible for an illegal task team to take such a decision.

“As we speak, we’re working on a press statement to set the record straight,” said Shongwe.
Following continued unrest caused by some of the aggrieved fans, Shongwe assured that supporters would be updated on team’s activities in due course.

“Full focus is on the SwaziBank Cup games and ending the season on a high note,” said Shongwe.
The directors were appointed in September 2015. Fakudze came on board in the past year to replace resigned Lawrence ‘Lolo’ Mthethwa. Later that year, the National Supporters Committee (NSC) was disbanded.

A body led by Themba Thabede was appointed to help in the revival of the branches, as well as the supporters’ affairs. Since the start of the new year, some of the members of the old structure have been causing uproar, something which has led to resignation of team manager John ‘Junior Shisa’ Mdluli.
