MBABANE – Former Sihlangu coach and Green Mamba coach Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga has been reportedly roped in as assistant coach in the national team.

This was confirmed by reliable sources who asserted that ‘Madze’ and former Wanderers coach Anthony Mdluli would form part of the technical bench to lead Sihlangu Semnikati.

“The duo will only be assistant to the head coach whom I have been made to understand is not a local coach and he will be announced shortly,” said the source.

Meanwhile, when Bulunga was reached for comment, he said he would not want to comment. “Well, this is news to me and I do not want to comment further. It is the FA that can have a say on this issue,” Bulunga said.
Mdluli confirmed that he was interviewed a while ago but since then, he had not been told anything.

“Can I not comment on this because this is all news to me; it is only FA that can talk about coaches and Sihlangu. With due respect, do not put my name in the story as there is nothing as yet between me and the FA,” said Mdluli.

During Bulunga’s tenure, Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe was the assistant coach while Sipho Dube was goalkeeper coach. Under Bulunga’s guidance, Sihlangu managed to be ranked among the top 100 teams in the FIFA rankings and they got a bronze medal in the COSAFA Cup last year.

National Football Association of Swaziland Technical Committee Chairman, Nichodemus ‘Ace’ Mashwama said his committee had finished the interview process and the new technical team to lead Sihlangu in the Africa Cup of Nations 2019 qualifiers, CHAN qualifier against Zambia’s Chipolopolo later this month, and the COSAFA Castle Cup in June would be announced soon.
