MBABANE – The NNAS has sent sponsorship proposals to companies, in a bid to at least raise E98 296 to send the netball senior national team to June’s African Championships in Uganda.

The team enters the tournament after having won bronze in the last championships in Botswana last year. The National Netball Association of Swaziland (NNAS) Secretary General Simangele Motsa confirmed the figures after making enquiries of their expected right-day stay in the eastern African nation.

Uganda, a powerhouse in netball in the continent will host the event from June 24 to 30. Motsa said air tickets alone will cost E70 000 to cater for their 21-member delegation that include 12 players, officials, umpires and two executive members.

“We are sending a 21-member delegation to Uganda. Two executive members (expectedly the president and secretary general) will form part of the delegation to attend the African Netball Annual General Meeting (AGM) which will be held during the games. Also part of the trip is umpires and coaches who will be attending workshops during the championships,” Motsa explained.
