MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows’ next CAF Confederations Cup opponents Azam FC from Tanzania boast highly-rated foreign stars in their squad.

The record-breaking Swallows are set to visit Tanzania’s 2014/15 League champions for the first round opening match on March 12.  Up to six internationals, mainly from Ghana, are in the side registered for the continental assignment.

Defenders Daniel Amoah and Mohammed Yakubu, as well as strikers Samuel Afful and Yahaya Mohammed from Ghana, are in the squad to face Swallows.  Others are midfielder Stephan Kingue Mpondo of Cameroon, as well as defender Bruce Kangwa from Zimbabwe.
The names of the players were posted on the official Confederations of African Football (CAF) website.

Meanwhile, Azam FC, who were founded in 2007, have played two international friendly matches this month. They played a goal-less draw with CAF Champions League champions Mamelodi Sundowns early in February before beating Zambia’s Red Arrows by 1-0 last weekend.

The teams will fight in a two-legged clash in a quest to march closer to the group stages to get a ‘carrot’ of about E3.4 million.
The winner of the first round encounter will progress to play-off matches featuring teams eliminated in the top-tier tournament, CAF Champions League.
