‘SWAZI BOLT’, MUNAVE ARE CLEAN SPORT AMBASSADORS

MBABANE – Athlete Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa and taekwondo artist Carlota Munave have been handed the responsibility of promoting drug-free athletes in the country.


The duo are the now Clean Sport Ambassadors, a body that advocates for the education against doping.
The two athletes have never tested positive to any prohibited substances.


They signed and were awarded their certificates yesterday in the presence of the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala at OlympAfrica Sports Centre.


Swaziland is a member of the Africa Zone VI RADO,  A Regional Anti-doping organisation, together with 11 other regional countries.
The Swaziland Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (SOCGA) CEO Muriel Hofer said.


The programme is under the Olympic Solidarity with the Africa Zone VI Rado/ Regional Anti-doing organisation and they joined other ambassadors from other countries in the Zone VI Region.


“The athletes will lead by example when it comes to issues on anti-doping and nutrients, time management at work and at training among other things. We are happy that the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs also support the programme,” she said.
Among other things they will be preaching is shunning the use of dope and other forms of cheating in sports.
They will represent the country with honour in all competitions at all times and be clean sports ambassadors for the country and the Africa Zone VI RADO.


Matsenjwa is the current record holder of the 100m and 200m, and he had represented the country in two Olympics, being the 2012 London Olympics and 2016 Rio De Janeiro, Brazil while Munave is the leading artist in taekwondo, having dominated in winning medals in international tournaments.
