MBABANE – Manzini Wanderers players had been warned that losing to Super League side 19 Celtics in the SwaziBank Cup will not be acceptable.

Wanderers in the past tournament stopped right on their track by minnow’s team.
Their latest was the Ingwenyama Cup where they were booted by National First Division League side Vovovo FC 4-1 in the last 16 of the tournament.

The maroon and white outfit Chairman Patrick Gamedze, said they made it clear to the players after the disappointing results against Vovovo FC in a special meeting that there were no ‘small teams’ in a knockout tournament, and they had to go out there and play like it’s a final.
The Hub giants face the Swazi Trac Northern Hhohho Super League side on Sunday at Somhlolo National Stadium in the grand opening. The match will kick-off at noon.

“Losing in early stages of knockouts tournament from teams not playing in the Premier League, had been haunting the team and it has to come to an end. The players are much aware of the expectation in this tournament as we don’t want history to repeats itself,” he said. Gamedze said they have been working hard in training and now they have the whole week to prepare for the clash.

“If there is a need of scoring 20 goals, then they must do so. This is a big game for us as we don’t want to start taking the game lightly. We believe in the players and I’m confident that they will deliver good results on Sunday,” he said.
In the past knockout tournament, Wanderers had lost to teams including Madlenya FC, Amalanda, Vovovo FC and Sisonkhe.
