MUSA MASUKU HEADS NEW HIGHLANDERS MC

MBABANE – Regrouping Mbabane Highlanders have taken full advantage of the MTN League break by directing their energies to putting their house in order.


Just before the league break two weekends ago, David Litchfield was the voice their hordes of supporters and the football fraternity they related to regards the club’s news and headed their Management Committee (MC). However, it was only on interim basis and the team’s Board of Directors have announced a new MC led by the renowned Musa Masuku as General Manager.


He leads the substantive MC but is the only acting one out of the entire members, meaning the substantive person was yet to be appointed if Masuku is confirmed. Taking the crucial Secretary/PRO position Mpumelelo Mnisi, also a former official like Masuku, who served the club under many of its past directors, save for recent leader Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane.


“The Directors have since appointed a fully-fledged Management Committee and therefore request the team’s supporters and all football structures to accord them full cooperation,” said Board of Directors’ Chairman Zweli Jele in a statement sent to this publication yesterday.


Jele said the Board would like to convey it ‘deep gratitude and appreciation’ to the outgoing interim MC that took charge of the team during turbulent times. He said the interim members responded promptly when called upon and performed their duties satisfactorily.


To the new MC, he wished them well as they begin to execute their mandate for the betterment of the club.
“Sooner than later, the Board will appoint the Marketing Committee and the Supporters Disciplinary Committee that will champion the re-branding of the team and enforcing discipline among our supporters, respectively,” he further said.
