MBABANE – Defending champions Young Buffaloes will begin their title campaign against Manzini Sundowns in one of the intriguing opening fixtures of the PLS Under-20/Reserve League this weekend.

The league, which already has several names in the elite stage, including the country’s big three teams Mbabane Swallows, Mbabane Highlanders and Manzini Wanderers, enters its fourth edition this weekend.

While the fixture with all match details is yet to be released, the opening games will also see rivals Swallows take on Green Mamba while Mbabane Highlanders have a date with Royal Leopard. On top of these exciting fixtures, Manzini Wanderers are in a derby clash against Red Lions.
Pressure is on Buffaloes as they have dominated this league since its inception, winning the past three editions. Their dominance also spilled to their under-17 side which won the inaugural Esibayeni Lodge league and now on course to defend it.

“The Esibayeni Lodge Under-17 League takes a break this weekend but football fans will not run short of development action because we’re kicking off the PLS Under-20/Reserve League and have lined up some mouth-watering fixtures for the opening games,” PLS Media and Communications Officer Dumisani ‘DU’ Sibandze confirmed.

He encouraged the clubs to continue with players’ registration ahead of the weekend games to make the competition as entertaining as ever. He said the PLS was pleased to see progress in the vision put to action by the organisation’s Chairman Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze and his Executive Committee.

Some of the players coming from this league include Richard Mccreesh, Sizolwethu Shabalala (Swallows), Sanele Ngcamphalala (Buffaloes), Wethu Vilakati (Wanderers) and Melusi Dlamini, who made his debut for Highlanders against Sundowns this past Sunday.
