MBABANE – Former Cycling Association of Swaziland (CAS) boss Mandla Simelane is a stressed man after losing two of his prized assets.

Unknown thugs are said to have broken into the shrewd sports administrator’s bicycle shed in his home outside the capital city, stealing his blue GT Mountain Bike (MTB) with Mavic wheels and Crossmark tyres. Also in the illegal possession of the thieves is a metallic blue Avenger 12-speed Vintage road bike.

“My bicycle shed was broken into and two of my bikes, complete with helmets and half finger gloves, were stolen.
“These bicycles are of sentimental value to me,” said Simelane.

Vintage 12-speed road bicycles are known for their 23-inch frame, among other features. However, Simelane preferred not to disclose the cost of his gadgets. The serial number of the MTB is S/N P1029-G.

“Luckily, my other road bicycle was in the main house in readiness for a morning ride,” said Simelane.
Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba confirmed the matter, saying arrests were yet to be made. Those who can assist trace the bicycles can liaise with Simelane on 7804 9780.

Meanwhile, Simelane was president of the fastest growing sport for the past eight years. He declined nomination for a third term when the association went to the polls in the past month.
