REGIONAL SWAZIBANK CUP PARTICIPANTS CONFIRMED

MBABANE – At least three regions have their two members confirmed for this year’s edition of the SwaziBank Cup.

The 32-team tournament, made up of the 24 Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) clubs and eight from the regions, is earmarked to kick-off towards the end of next month. Winners of this competition, a replica of the English FA Cup get a ticket to participate in the Total Confederations of African Football (CAF).

Mbabane Swallows are the defending champions of the SwaziBank Cup after beating Green Mamba in last year’s finals watched by an over 10 000 story crowd including His Majesty King Mswati III.

The Hhohho region has 19 Celtics and Tinyosi after the sides finished top of the log standings halfway through the campaign in the northern and southern streams, respectively. Manzini will be represented by the ever rising Sisonkhe, who sent conundrums across football teams after eliminating giants Manzini Wanderers in the opening round batch of matches last season alongside debutants Stumbo’s XI.

Lubombo has Ubombo Flyers and former elite league side Tambankulu Callies while only one team has been confirmed in Shiselweni – Black Aces, who also participated in the early stages of the ongoing Ingwenyama Cup.
