MBABANE – Despite being booted in the semi-finals of the Ingwenyama Cup, the duo of Tambuti and Manzini Sundowns will smile all the way to the bank as each team pocketed over E200 000 for reaching the last four.

Both teams will be awarded with E200 000 and they also received about E22 000 each from the gate collections.
The finalists, Mbabane Swallows and Young Buffaloes, also got the E22 000 each from the E136 740 collected on Sunday. There were about 4 500 supporters who paid E30 to watch the enthralling semi-finals at Somhlolo National Stadium on Sunday. Swallows reached the finals after beating resilient Manzini Sundowns 2-1 while Young Buffaloes cruised to a 2-0 win over Tambuti FC.

Mbabane Swallows and Young Buffaloes will now battle for the E1.2 million first prize money while the runner-up will get E500 000.
“The attendance on Sunday was overwhelming as people came in numbers to support their teams. This is good for football as the fees collected at the gates go back to assist the teams in their preparations,” Johannes ‘Ace’ Siboza, the Chairman of the Cup’s MC said. Siboza said they also noted the good behaviour from the fans. He encouraged football fans to continue with the good spirit of coming in their numbers and also behaving well.

“We are confident that the finals will be played in a friendly environment where fans will come to support their teams and enjoy the events on the day. The date of the final will be announced in due course,” he said.
