MBABANE – Even before the PLS officially unwraps the goodies of its Vision 2022, Mbabane Highlanders have put their supporters on red alert.

The club officially told their Nhlangano supporters about part of the deal which will see teams running themselves through the sale of merchandise.
The club’s Board of Directors Chairman Zweli Jele addressed the supporters on their progress since taking over, their future plans protruding to next season. Among other things, he shared with the supporters next season’s new way to watch league games.

“The director did tell us that they would start selling club merchandise next season and indicated the tracksuits were expected to sell at E850, which will be entry fee to all league home games the entire season,” explained the Highlanders’ supporters’ branch Secretary Thuli Sibandze.
She said it was no secret that they met the director who gave them feedback on what was happening in the club since their take-over and going forward. She conceded they were also told replicas would be available.
“We don’t know how much the replicas will cost but certainly less than the tracksuits,” she said.

However, it was established from close sources that the soon-to-be launched PLS Vision 2022 concept will reap financial rewards to crowd pulling tradition big three teams, as the sale of replicas will be the main source of revenue generation.
The ‘Black Bull’ have embarked on a massive supporters’ branch revival drive which will be hot spots for the sale of the merchandise including the tracksuits at E850.

It is said that should the sales go well, say around 1 000 fans purchase the tracksuits and another 1 000 go for the replicas, the club stands to make E1.3m which is expected to apply at Wanderers and Swallows.
“A thousand tracksuits amount to E850 000 while replicas of same number add up to E450 000 and that brought together means E1.3m income for the club when the country’s big teams have a budget of an estimated E600 000 maximum per season,” Jele said when reached on the developments.

“This emanates from the special meeting we had about six months or so back with the PLS as the big three teams at Lugogo Sun where we agreed on this. Our vision as a club is that no individual should make contributions; instead, the team must run itself so we can get any good administrator to lead,” he said as he confided that this was part of the PLS’ Vision 2022.

He said they had to meet the Manzini branch this weekend but it has since been postponed as they want their supporters to be aware and ready of the direction football was taking from that Lugogo meeting.
Interestingly, Swallows wrote in their Times’ column that they had limited tracksuits selling at E850 for their hordes of followers ahead of the Botswana trip in less than three weeks from now.
