MBABANE – The SBIS Sports Show ban for club PROs has been lifted.

However, their appearance at the popular radio soccer dominated programme will be strictly by invitation from the host presenter.
Team PROs were notable absentees on Swaziland Broadcasting and Information Service’s Sports Show, which is aired between 6:15am and 7am on Mondays and Fridays.

For the first time since the national radio station pulled the plug on them in October last year, some of the teams’ representatives, especially the Ingwenyama Cup semi-finalists were heard on air yesterday.
Present in studio to promote their teams during the popular ‘show’, were Mbabane Swallows acting CEO Sibusiso Manana, his Young Buffaloes counterpart Sandile Gwebu, as well as Sundowns PRO Muzi Matsenjwa.

SBIS Programmes Manager Siswati Channel Veli Simelane said the PROs were in studio on special arrangement ahead of tomorrow’s semi-finals featuring the quartet of Swallows, Sundowns, Buffaloes and Tambuti.

“The programme had to be reviewed as anyone would just storm the studio. It was felt it had to be well coordinated,” he said.
Asked if the club representatives would now feature regularly again in the programme, Simelane referred comments to Station Director Martin Dlamini. The latter was said to be in a meeting when sought for comment.

The PROs were sidelined following inflammatory statements from a section of the teams’ representatives.
The decision was met with mixed reactions. Some of the spokespersons ran to Voice of the Church (VOC), where they were temporarily accommodated.
