MBABANE – The clash between CAF Confederations Cup rookies Orapa United and Mbabane Swallows is degenerating into a clash of the titans by each passing day.

It might be about three weeks away, but both teams are treading carefully as they aim to face each other in the first leg match scheduled for Francistown on Saturday, February 11 at 8pm.

The second leg will be a week later at Somhlolo National Stadium. Yesterday, Orapa United PRO Tabetso Hule said they had done their research and had discovered that they would be up against an experienced side in continental football.

“We are not taking Swallows lightly, after finding out that they have been competing in Africa for the past years,” he said.
He said the difference is that they had a mandate to reach the group stage of the tournament at least.

“The club is six years old, we spent two years in the National First Division and thereafter we have been in top flight. Recently, we finished third and second, respectively, in the league. Last year, we won the Mascom Top 8. At the top of our strategic plan was to campaign in Africa in our sixth year, we feel that we are right on track,” he said.

He said they had heard that Swallows had a huge following in the country, and they had since arranged to bring their own supporters for the second leg.
“We will be sending an advance party to assess the situation in Swaziland, so that we can know the environment even before we arrive.
Mbabane Swallows acting CEO Sibusiso Manana said his team had the same mandate of progressing to the later stages of the tournament.
“We know everything about them and we are aware that they are very strong side that we cannot underestimate.
