EZULWINI – Prime Minister Sibusiso Dlamini has a dream of seeing a Futsal league at grassroots level that will produce great players in the mould Ronaldo, Pele and Lionel Messi to name a few.

Dlamini was the guest speaker at a lunch hour event honouring MTN Swaziland for being the best institution in the region in sports development.
The company owed its success to its over 13 years of premier league sponsorship, King’s Cup Golf, MTN Monthly Masters Golf and Khemani Cycling event. In his speech, Dlamini hailed the organisation for its unwavering sponsorship of sports in the country.

He then called upon other corporate entities to seize the opportunity and consider sparing additional contribution for sports especially at grassroots level.
He said it is at this level where future stars were born in communities willing to get a chance to develop.
“It might be for a playing area, some equipment and a local league or even starting Futsal leagues (The Spanish version of a five aside football) across the country.

I mention futsal because it is a low cost medium and the great stars like Pele, Messi and Ronaldo are unanimous in attributing their remarkable close-quarter skills to almost exclusive participation in futsal in their youth,” he said.
He said such tournaments are an opportunity for the country’s football to succeed in coming years.
