MBABANE – Renowned ex-pool president in the country, Sikhatsi Dlamini, was on Monday morning officially crowned champion of The George Hotel Pool Singles – but he will not defend his title.

He was presented his E2 000, trophy and gold medal by the city’s mayor and The George Hotel’s Bright Kumi. Interestingly, this is the veteran’s second consecutive The George Hotel title as he won it even in 2015 before scooping this 2016 edition.

Flag Nxumalo won first edition in 2015. In his remarks, Dlamini made it known that he was proud to have defended his title but as his name suggests, it was time to take his experience to his city of residence, the capital, where he was recently elected as Working Committee Chairman for the Hhohho Regional Pool Association (HRPA).

“This has been a great tournament which has improved with each edition but it’s unfortunate that I also must announce I’m now returning to Mbabane. This was my last George Hotel competition otherwise I now want same thing for Mbabane,” he said. He praised the hotel for their continued partnership and was also pleased to hear the Manager, Bright Kumi, saying they were sponsoring a fourth edition of the league. Dlamini’s runner-up was Police College star Norman Khoza who netted E1 400 plus a silver medal.

On third was the young and talented Eddie Mkhonta who plies his trade with Police College Pool Club. He received E1 200 and a bronze medal for his exploits. There were also prizes for third to 15th, which covers all the players who participated in the league, as consolation.
