MAXI MUSIC SOCIAL CLUB CROWNED CHAMPIONS

BIG BEND – The annual Mr Matata/U-tech Charity Social Cup played this past Saturday at U-Tech in Big Bend was won by Maxi Music Social Club.


Featuring 12 teams in total, Maxi were the last team standing after defeating runners-up Big Bend Social 1-0 in a tightly contested final as former top players also appeared for these two teams, including former Mbabane Swallows dribbling wizard Bongiswa Nhlabatsi and former Mbabane Highlanders goalkeeper Sanele Tsabedze among others.


The two sides started their final just a few minutes after Mbabane Swallows had beaten Vovovo FC 4-0 at Mayaluka Stadium in the quarter-finals of the Ingwenyama Cup.
Tournament coordinator Tate Littler confirmed Maxi won the tournament.
“It was a great tournament once again this year and we want to thank our sponsors Mr Matata for their E5500 contribution as well our partner U-Tech. It was all a huge success and charity was the winner in the end,” he said.


He said they had 12 teams joining this year, each paying E500 registration which goes to charity. The champions took home a trophy, 18 gold medals and four soccer balls. The runners-up got 18 silver medals and three soccer balls.
Third-place finishers Me and You, who defeated Dream Team in play-off, coming out 2-0 victors, received18 bronze medals and two soccer balls.
