MANZINI – Wilfrid Palcy, the long distance runner from European nation France, completed his remarkable 51st run for the year in the country yesterday morning.

The Frenchman is chasing a personal record of 52 running events in a calendar year and next weekend he will be attending his last event in Maputo, Mozambique. Palcy has run in Kenya, Egypt, Lesotho and South Africa in the mother continent and Swaziland was his fifth nation. He has also been to all parts of America, China, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand and across Europe.

The adventurous runner is exploring five continents, running through all these countries. He joined established athletics club Golden Foot in a joint run yesterday morning for a half marathon fun run that was run in the Tuff One’ event route from Zakhele, Ngwane Park, Esikhaleni, Lwandle,  Coates Valley and back to Zakhele, among other places.

Challenging

Palcy said the route was very challenging as he was not used to hills but lauded a good race done at a welcoming pace.
“The difference between this route and those we use in France is that ours is done away from cars or in busy roads and, of course, the temperatures. Swaziland is quite hot and I’m impressed with how Golden Foot is organised,” he said after successfully completing the run.
The French man relished attending the Incwala main day late on the day.

“I’m very lucky to be here at this time of the year and I’m glad I will witness the Incwala ceremony. My goal is to share what I see in all these countries with the Facebook community and such can prompt people to regard Swaziland as a tourism destination,” he said.
Palcy added that over and above, the idea was to encourage people to stay healthy and quit bad habits like smoking.
