MBABANE – The purse for the 2016 instalment of the prestigious King’s Cup Golf Tournament is over E1.1 million.

The tournament, headlined by the tee-off of His Majesty King Mswati III, gets underway next Wednesday. Once again, MTN Swaziland led the way, forking out a lion’s share of the package before the King at Lozitha Royal Palace on Monday night. Like in the past year, the giant mobile services provider pumped in E350 000.

Also coming to the party was Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC), presenting an unchanged E280 000.
Nedbank Swaziland contributed a revised E210 000. The reputable financial institution had donated E200 000 in 2015.
Ezulwini-based Royal Swazi Spa Holdings pumped in an extra E17 844 as compared to the previous edition. The company gave out E143 132 on the night.

Meanwhile, Swaziland Royal Insurance Corporation (SRIC) is the notable newcomer this year. On top of donating E100 000, the giant insurance company has lined up a whopping E250 000 for a golfer who will drive the ball into the hole in just one swing (hole-in-one).

Also joining hands in the festivities are Public Service Pension Fund (PSPF), Buy Cash, and Build It Mbabane, among others. The total contribution was E1 178 132 while last year’s figures were at E1 200 288.

The King will tee-off next Friday. The tournament will once again be played under the Sunshine Big Easy Tour banner and there is E350 000 up for grabs for the professionals.  On September 3, amateurs and those playing in the paying ranks will rub shoulders on the greens in a PRO-AM. Later on the night, there will be an awards championship dinner.
