MANZINI – Teams have shelved plans to oust the netball leadership, following successful deliberations on Saturday.

The petitioned Mandisa Sigudla-led National Netball Association of Swaziland (NNAS) executive committee came face-to-face with the aggrieved members during an extraordinary meeting at Zakhele in Manzini.

The agenda of the gathering was headlined by 12 of the about 20 affiliates termed failure to develop the number one female team sport in the country.
Among the grievances was also the failure by NNAS to hold an annual general meeting by the last day of May as per the dictates of Article 7 of the Constitution.

NNAS Secretary, Simangele Motsa clarified that the violations were not deliberate but were forced by circumstances beyond her office’s control.  She said they were obstacles that needed to be eliminated after it was discovered that E7 000 was owed to auditors, among other things.

“We also needed to sort out recognition issues with our mother body, the Sports and Recreation Council at the time. The audited financial reports are part of the requirements for recognition, which is still pending,” she said. NNAS acknowledged that the statutes were violated, apologising for the oversight, but was not excused from continued verbal ‘attack.’

Head of Coaching, Nhlanhla ‘Friction’ Mayisela, said they should forget about amending the Constitution, following a proposal by Motsa that it would be better for the local general assembly to be held after the continental body’s meeting. Outspoken Khulekani Nkambule, who was representing Sunbirds, outlined the reasons that led to the decision to demand the meeting.
