WE ARE THE FUTURE STARS - TENNIS JUNIORS

LOBAMBA – As the three- day juniors camp comes to an end for Lobamba young tennis players, the exercise has stirred up unseen belief and yearning for the skies.


It has been a gruelling training session for the future stars of the sport as coaches Bruce Gama, Bongani Kunene and Mandla ‘KFC’ Zwane took turns in honing the skills of the players at the OlympAfrica Centre.


The Swaziland National Tennis Association (SNTA) camp ended yesterday for the Lobamba juniors, but it was the great improvement coupled with determination that left the coaches beaming with pride.


Thando Bhembe, who is 11 years old, reckoned that his game would never be the same again after the training camp. He is looking forward to more of such opportunities availed to junior players in the country and  said the dedication showed by the coaches helped him realise the need to take his game seriously.


“The coaches told me that it is up to me to be one of the great players in the country and they are ready to assist me achieve that. I will make sure that I spend lot of time in the court working hard to improve. I now believe that I can be the best and play internationally and competitively,” he said.


Bhembe is a pupil at Ezulwni Community Primary School and is in Grade VI.
Mukelwa Maziya said the camp helped him improve his smash, splits steps and concentration on the game.


“I believe that if we can continue to train like we did in the past three days, we can the best players for the country in the near future.
