MBABANE – After leaving the club at the end of the 2014/15 season to return home in Zimbabwe, lanky defender Talent Maposa is rejoining Mbabane Swallows.

After being spotted in the capital city earlier yesterday, he was later found training with his former club at the Prince of Wales Ground, which was his first session with the ‘Birds’ after his return. Maposa did not agree to a new contract last season as he hoped to land a better deal back home. According to information from Swallows, he has also been to overseas but opted to return to Swaziland to restart his career. When he left, he had won several titles with ‘Umkhonto KaShaka’ in his two seasons with them before jumping ship last year.

“He may have gone but we knew he’d be back because he had asked to be released to attend to his ailing mother back home. It’s also good news to us that he has finally returned to the club and we welcome him back,” Swallows acting CEO Sibusiso Manana said.

Questioned if they would be re-signing him after being out for a full season, Manana said Talent was experienced and good and they would not hesitate bringing him back in. However, he said their technical bench would also have an input to his signing but his experience was undoubted.

No immediate comment could be obtained from the player but he looked comfortable around the whole team as he knew nearly every player but midfielder Papy Tshishimbi and Tumelo who were signed last season.
Swallows are also expected to sign striker Phinda Dlamini from Manzini Sundowns. Manana said they were still in negotiations with his club but they were confident a deal would be sealed soon. Dlamini started training with the red and white side last Tuesday afternoon.

When the coach, Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati, was called about Talent’s presence at the training ground, he said it was unfortunate that he was not at the training ground.
“But since you saw him, I’d say I don’t have a problem with him or any other player. All I want as a coach is someone who is ready to work hard for the club. I’d have to see his frame of mind but he has to fight for a place in the team,” Vilakati said.
He said it was true Talent was renowned but after a season lay-off, he would have to work hard to win his place again.
