MBABANE – True to its slogan Yami Nawe (Yours & Mine), the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup Soccer Spectacular is not only for the senior but the junior teams too, with the youngsters having been sponsored to the tune of the E120 000.

This is the total package for this year’s Charity Cup Under-20 Knockout which kicks off with the semi-finals next weekend as only four teams are participating. These clubs are giants Mbabane Highlanders, Manzini Wanderers and Mbabane Swallows, as well as Young Buffaloes by virtue of being the defending champions.

“The champions this year will take home E30 000, so good luck to the four participating teams. We know Buffaloes have dominated here, but it is up to the other three teams to stop them,” said PLS Chief Operations Officer (COO) Pat Vilakati during yesterday’s draw at Sigwaca House.

He went on to announce that the runners-up will pocket E15 000, while there will be no prizes for the losing semi-finalists. However, each of the four teams are guaranteed to take a piece of the pie home through a E4 000 participation fee. Vilakati then appealed to the senior officials to desist from interfering in the junior squads as that would result in the unnecessary anti-football scenes witnessed at the top level of the local game. He further encouraged that qualified coaches are used in the development sides to properly nurture the youngsters.
