MBABANE – High riding Sihlangu coach Harries Madze Bulunga is headed for bigger things following a proposed attachment to SuperSport United.

The bespectacled senior national team mentor who is on the verge of qualifying Sihlangu to the finals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been earmarked for a spell with the SuperSport United team coached by the highly rated British mentor Stuart Baxter.

The dates for the attachment are still being processed, but contacts between the coach’s representative and the Pretoria based ensemble have commenced.
A source close to the coach confided to this publication that Bulunga is expected to forward his paperwork accompanying the proposal this week to ‘Amatsantsatsa’ as the club is affectionately called. He also needs to enclose his own motivational letter on why he wanted to be attached to SuperSport, his current CV, and a letter from the FA who his employees on how his attachment would help improve football in the country.

“The coach is being lined up for not just this attachment, but many others including teams abroad. The coach has been in constant communication with his representative who is based in country. He has to submit his papers soon so that logistics on the dates of attachment could be fixed,” the source said.

The source said Bulunga has savoured the opportunity to work with Baxter who is highly rated for his tactical acumen even in the South Africa’s Absa Premiership League.
“The coach has not hidden his excitement of working with Baxter because he believe he can learn a lot from him,” he said.

This publication has since gathered from SuperSport United CEO Stanley Mathews that contacts have been made, but nothing has been concluded yet.
Mathews in an interview on Saturday simply said “We have not concluded any arrangements yet.”

However, when quizzed on the issue said he has not been briefed. And FA CEO Frederick Mngomezulu said the association has not yet received anything on the proposal, but would appreciate any opportunity that could aid the Sihlangu coach. He said the organisation has in the past benefited from attachment especially in Germany and Hungary for national teams’ coaches.

“We would support any initiative that seeks to improve our coach, because he is still busy improving himself education wise. He is amongst the list of coaches who have attained the CAF A License and is expected to do the CAF Pro License,” he said.
