ZUNGU GET HIS CLEARANCE, CONFIRMS PIRATES TALKS
MBABANE – Moneni Pirates have been given a huge boost in their chase for want away Mbabane Highlanders midfielder Vusumuzi Zungu.
This follows the team’s decision to hand the player his clearance to join a team of his choice, as contractual talks between the two parties collapsed.
The South African born central midfielder’s contract expired in May and the capital city giants were hopeful to retain him, but he opted out of the deal. The player’s representative Dingani Maduna confirmed yesterday.
“It is true that Zungu was given a free clearance to join a team of his choice, but there are some loose ends that still needed to be sorted,” he said.
showdown
The player was in the country for showdown talks with Mbabane Highlanders boss Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane yesterday, and left quickly for South Africa after getting his work permit.
Zungu confirmed the matter when called from Johannesburg yesterday evening.
“I was in Swaziland today to meet Highlanders. I got my clearance and I am weighing my options. Moneni Pirates is one of the teams that we are talking to, but I also have three offers in South Africa with a National First Division team and two PSL clubs which I can’t divulge at the moment. I will wait and see what happens next,” he said.
The player said he was happy to have got his clearance and would want to explore opportunities elsewhere.
