MBABANE – South Africa’s Black Leopards have lined up four strong international friendly matches during their three-week boot camp in the country.

The Thohoyandou-based National First Division team, which recently recalled former FA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kenneth Makhanya into their fold, will arrive in the country on Sunday, and will be lodged at the Correctional Services College in Matsapha.

A source close to the team yesterday confided to this publication that the team had already earmarked games against Mbabane Highlanders, Green Mamba, Mbabane Swallows and Moneni Pirates. They may decide to add another one against Manzini Sundowns, which is still being pursued. “It is now certain that Black Leopards arrive on Sunday for a boot camp in the country. It is part of the club’s preseason camp and they have lined up a host of friendly matches against top sides in the league, including Highlanders, Pirates, and Swallows,” the source said.

Green Mamba MC member Bongani Khumalo could only confirm that the former Premier Soccer League side have requested to use the facilities at the Matsapha Correctional Services College next week. “We are aware that they have approached us over the facilities, and we hope that if they come we will seize the opportunity and get a friendly match,” Khumalo said.

Mbabane Swallows acting CEO Sibusiso Manana said he was not aware of the game, because the club was still enjoying off-season. He stressed that they would return next week and would give feedback once they had something formal. Manzini Sundowns PRO Muzi Matsenjwa confirmed the proposed friendly match against Black Leopards.

“The Chairman, Mark Carmichael, has already communicated to the MC that the team will play Black Leopards who are coming for a preseason friendly match. We are starting our camp on Monday and we will wait for the visitors to notify us about the exact dates for the proposed game,” he said.
