LOBAMBA – Speaking for the first time in the midst of wild reports that certain South African sides were interested in his services, Felix Badenhorst said a return to the Premier Soccer League (PSL) would be ‘nice’.

Upon arrival with his national team Sihlangu teammates, he said at the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Technical Centre that he was solely concentrated on the squad campaign in the regional showpiece and now that it was over, he would know what was happening. Felix has been heavily linked with Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs in recent weeks but was not part of the contingent of new signings announced yesterday.
Sihlangu returned yesterday from a fruitful COSAFA Castle Cup campaign where they settled for bronze, beating guest nation, the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the third place play-off.

“I’ve seen some of the reports but there is nothing really that I can say is concrete. The concentration was on doing well for the country in Namibia and now that I’m back, maybe I will know what is happening. However, as a footballer, one would like to take the next step hence I believe a return to the PSL would be nice,” Badenhorst said.

The lanky attacker previously played for Jomo Cosmos in 2011 before returning to the country to wear the red and white of Mbabane Swallows. Badenhorst finished the 2016 COSAFA Castle Cup hosted in Windhoek, Namibia as the top goalscorer, pocketing E20 000.

He scored five goals in the tournament, grabbing a brace apiece in the group stages’ matches against Zimbabwe and Seychelles and added another in a 1-0 win over Madagascar. This took his total earnings in the tournament to E27 500 after winning two man-of-the-match awards that banked him US$250 (about E3 750) in each match.
