MBABANE – Ahead of this year’s National Football Association of Swaziland’s (NFAS) Annual General Meeting (AGM) next Sunday, the organisation’s President Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa stands to be stripped of some of his powers.

It is understood two associations have submitted proposals to the effect that his powers regarding the employment of the local football mother body’s chief executive officer (CEO), a position currently by Frederick Mngomezulu be scrutinised in the AGM.

One of the associations, the Swaziland National Coaches Association (SNCA), confirmed its proposal to the NFAS when asked about it yesterday. Also said to have made same proposal are the referees who along with coaches were ousted as members of the NFAS’ Executive Committee.

It is on that premise that among other proposals they made they want their representation back in the NFAS’ Executive.
“This is basically calling for an amendment to the NFAS Constitution which gives powers of the CEO’s contract to the president who he reports directly to. We want this changed as we believe even the latest FIFA reforms are calling for such if they want the president to come up three names which the Executive will then pick its candidate for the position,” said a coach on condition of anonymity.

The source said lack representation in the Executive has seen them suffer because decisions are made without their consideration which is why they want back.
On the CEO issue, it is said the feeling was that the CEO had too much power in the organisation when he should only be dealing with administrative issues and stay out of financials.
