SOSAI KARATE WINS 14 TROPHIES IN SA

MBABANE – The newly-formed Sosai Kyokushin Karate Association of Swaziland hoisted the country’s flag in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa when it won 14 trophies last Saturday.


This was during the Ulundi-KZN Sosai Kyokushin Tournament. The team, according to Sosai Secretary Sensei Mzwandile Ngwenya, comprised 50 people including seven young fighters below 14 years, 33 seniors, six officials and four parents.


“We came back home on Sunday with 14 trophies after some of our fighters were awarded for their winning performances in their categories.
The 14th trophy was the Most Spirited Team Award which we also took home which is about discipline from start to end of the tournament,” Ngwenya explained.


He said they were competing among others University of Kwa-Zululand who had brought most fighters, Port Shepstone Dojo, Gauteng and Mpumalanga Province among others.


President of the Association Sensei Mandla Mdluli praised his team and said this was a sign that their future was bright and appealed for all karatekas in the country to unite and keep the spirit of the sport going.
