MBABANE – The cruel hands of death has taken former Young Buffaloes Public Relations Officer (PRO) Nhlanhla Mabuza.

Mabuza held the rank of captain at Umbutfo Swaziland Defence Force (USDF). News of Mabuza’s passing started filtering on social media on Sunday evening after succumbing to death at RFM hospital in Manzini early on the day.

Incumbent PRO Sandile Gwebu confirmed the team has received the sad news of Mabuza’s death and described it is a crippling blow to the team.
“We have received the news of Mabuza’s passing and as a team we have lost a gentleman. He was still active in the team structures and we send our profound condolences to his family, friends and the entire Buffaloes family where he served diligently,” Gwebu said.

Death

At the time of his death, Mabuza was the team’s National Supporters Committee (NSC) chairman.
He was on the front run when the army side made former Manzini Wanderers striker the most expensive player then.

The fast running striker’s transfer was around E80 000, which made the former Sihlangu striker the country’s most expensive player.
Previously the tag fell on Mbabane Swallows lavishly talented midfielder, Lwazi ‘Zidane’ Maziya who moved from Mhlambanyatsi Rovers to the ‘Birds’ nest at a clearance fee of E70 000.

Mabuza served as Buffaloes PRO from the 2007/08 season to 2013, leaving the button to Alex Maphosa. He was not only one of the longest serving PROs but helped the team to the coveted MTN league title in the 2009/10 season.
