MBABANE – After years in the wilderness, the once-fancied Tinkhundla Soccer Tournament is back and expected to be launched by the Premier, Sibusiso Dlamini, today.

It is all thanks to Shukuma Swaziland as the tournament returns under its health and fitness campaign umbrella, it can be reliably revealed.
The tournament is billed for launch at 3pm at the Swaziland Water Services Corporation (SWSC) in Ezulwini.

This will certainly come as good news for the Members of Parliament (MPs) who have always called for government to bring back the football tournament after having it once and saw it receiving a big response from the Tinkhundla centres.
“My understanding is that the tournament is now part of the Shukuma menu which had not included football before since it was started some years ago,” said a source.

Upon following the matter, it turned out the budget for the tournament was already set aside from what Shukuma Swaziland was allocated under the Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Ministry.

However, Swaziland National Sports and Recreation Council’s (SNSRC) CEO Darius Dlomo, when asked about it on Monday, referred all questions to Minister David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala or the SNSRC Board Chairman Lawrence ‘Lolo’ Mthethwa.

Minister Ngcamphalala, when reached on Monday, was coy with information but did acknowledge its return but said since the premier  would be launching it after Cabinet’s blessing yesterday, he could not say much.
