MBABANE – For the first time in the history of the SwaziBank Cup, there will be no prize giving ceremony for the 13th instalment as the awardees have already been furnished with their prizes.

Following a decision by the bank to cancel the award ceremony that was supposed to be staged yesterday, awardees especially best player in Mbabane Swallows midfielder, Felix Badenhorst, smiled all the way to the bank.

After inspiring the capital city giants to win the championship, Badenhorst walked away with the coveted best player award that goes with E13 000 in cash.

The slim-built midfielder is also joint top goalscorer alongside teammate, Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu and Mbabane Highlanders’ phenomenal youngster, Lungelo Tsabedze. They all scored four goals apiece to have a share of the E10 000 prize. Each player got slightly over E3 300. This means Badenhorst’s earnings in the tournament are about E18 300 after winning the Man of the Match award in the final. It carries a E2 000 cash reward.

Swallows expectedly swept the boards as reputable gaffer Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati emerged as the best coach to pocket E8 500 while CEO Sibusiso Manana was named the best PRO. The latter became E7 000 richer.

The gifted midfielder dedicated the award to his teammates, saying getting the recognition was a bonus as he was just happy to win the championship.
“Our supporters also deserve special mentioning for rallying behind the team throughout the tournament as well as all season long,” said Badenhorst.
