MBABANE – Senator Adam ‘Bomber’ Mthethwa, the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) President, has noted Mbabane Swallows’ rough path to Sunday’s SwaziBank Cup final.

Swallows play Green Mamba for the E1 million first prize cheque at Somhlolo National Stadium. Mthethwa noted, in yesterday’s kit presentation at the Swazi Bank auditorium, that Swallows had endured a difficult journey to the final with games he termed matches of each week.

Swallows beat giant slayers Amalanda in the first round matches. Amalanda have had casualties like Manzini Wanderers and Young Buffaloes at this very stage of the tournament in previous campaigns. The Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati-coached side then saw off Mbabane Highlanders, Royal Leopard and Red Lions in the next stages, respectively, scoring 10 goals while conceding one.

“Swallows have played matches of the weeks in all stages and frankly, all their games were finals,” Mthethwa said.
He then wished both finalists the best of luck and said as the FA, theirs was to make sure there is maximum participation in the sport.

“It is apparent football’s partnership with football will be long and successful. We encourage people to participate in numbers in all the bank’s promotional initiatives. SwaziBank is a unique tournament and we expect good behaviour from teams and fans,” he said.
