MBABANE – City Warriors were officially crowned champions of the Swazi Trac Lubombo Super League on Wednesday night.

The 2016 SwaziBank Cup and Ingwenyama Cup participants got E15 000 on top of a ticket to the National First Division.
The Siphofaneni-based ensemble were furnished with their prizes during an event held at Swazi Trac offices in Matsapha.

Sponsor representative, Nadine Stein, expressed her office’s delight about the company’s partnership with football, highlighting that in spite of the prevailing drought which has hit hard on the agricultural sector, the company continued to associate itself with the number one sport.
Meanwhile, Stein challenged the Lubombo Regional Football Association (LRFA) to reveal their plans for the coming season. She further assured the attendees that the company was determined to remain the best and reliable dealers of agricultural machinery including the John Deere brand.

LRFA Chairman Mangaliso Langwenya thanked Swazi Trac for showing their love for
football, which has been demonstrated by the fact that during the drought situation the company never stopped them from staying on board.

“The fact that the champions have won the league by a difference of one point from its nearest contenders is testimony that there is fierce competition indeed,” said Langwenya.
He, on the other hand, presented a special award to Amos Lulane for his relentless contribution to football in the region. A special mentioning was also made to Philip ‘Big Daddy’ Dlamini for his role in linking the sponsors with the football fraternity.
Also making an address was National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Vice President Nichodemus ‘Ace’ Mashwama, who urged the players to desist from wayward behaviour.
