MATSAPHA – The Swaziland National Sports and Recreation Council (SNSRC) has boosted the National Bass Angling team with E50 000.

The anglers will participate in the World Championships to be hosted by Italy from Monday to October 24. SNSRC’s Zama Tsabedze confirmed the figure during the team’s farewell function at the Flying Club in Matsapha and further wished the locals all the best at the championships.

Swaziland finished second to settle for silver at the 2012 event hosted by Venezuela.

“You have done the country proud before and we trust you will do the same again this time around and return home with gold medals. SNSRC is behind the Angling Association and you are one of the best in terms of compliance,” he said, to much applause from the team and those who had come to see them off.

Swaziland Angling Association (SAA) President Derek Hopf said they had equal chances at the championships to claim gold and emphasised on the importance of winning for the late national team player Jared van Dyk.
