MBABANE – Manzini Sundowns midfielder Mlamuli ‘Mlaba’ Nkambule cheated death in a freak accident on the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The car he was travelling in, a Lencer Mistubishi, rolled three times with the 21-year-old escaping with a dislocated shoulder and a few bruises. He was treated and discharged at the Mbabane Government Hospital. According to the player, doctors have given him a time frame of two weeks to recover, which means he will miss Sundowns’ next league match.

The accident happened along the Manzini/ Mbabane highway at Elangeni. This was hours after he had appeared for Sundowns in an MTN league game against Royal Leopard played at Mhlume’s Nsukuwansuku Stadium. The former Sihlangu star, who could hardly talk when reached complaining of severe pain, said he was lucky to be alive.

“I suspect that the people in the car I was following were drunk as they used the middle of the road on the freeway. When I tried to overtake, I hit the back of their car and mine rolled about two or three times,” the left-footed player said.
