SD TO HOST ZONE VI CHAMPS

MBABANE – Swaziland will host the Zone VI Volleyball Nations Championships in December.


Swaziland National Volleyball Association (SNVA) interim committee Chairman Mpendulo Dlamini confirmed the news, revealing that a delegation from the Zone VI technical committee will be in the country this week to inspect facilities and give the games the green light

. This past weekend, Swaziland hosted teams from Lesotho and Zimbabwe in the Commissioner’s Cup at the Mavuso Sports Centre. Last year’s Volleyball Nations Championships which were scheduled for Zambia from October 19 to 28, 2014 were called off due to financial constraints. The tournament was to serve as the respective nations preparations for the Africa Games.


Zone VI were supposed to give Zambia US$5 000 (about E55 000) as the hosts of the Volleyball Nations Championship and US$4 000 (about E44 000) to each of the other nine Zone VI countries namely; Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, South Africa and Zimbabwe.


“The country will be hosting the Zone VI Championships in December and the Zone president with his team will be in the country to inspect some of the facilities earmarked to host the games,” Dlamini said.
