MBABANE – Top cyclist William Kelly will continue doing what he knows best after recovering from an injury.

The two-time Mountain Bike (MTB) Series champion last competed in the Engen Ngwenya Glass Challenge, where he fractured his ribs in July this year. He missed the following two events, namely Nkonyeni Inyatsi G2G Classic and last Saturday’s Swazi 3 Reserves in Simunye. As a result, his chances of a podium finish in the MTB series were dealt a huge blow.

“I had to avoid racing, especially the challenging MTB events to have enough time to recover.
I’m feeling better now.”

Kelly, 49, assured that he would be ready to take to the road for the third edition of the MTN Khemani in Mankayane next Sunday.
Kelly is among cyclists who do the double by competing in both road and MTB events. He has become synonymous with podium finishes in the off-road events despite competing with energetic youngsters who include Inyatsi Swazi Frontier shining pair Sihawu Dlamini and Sifiso Mhlanga.

He was almost in tears in the 2013 Nkonyeni G2G race after he blew a flawless lead to finish second after he missed the route. Switzerland-born Gremion Bruno was the eventually winner in 3:08:44:86 hours, finishing a second earlier.
