MATSAPHA – Mbabane Swallows avoided Royal Leopard in yesterday’s Castle Premier Challenge semi finals draw held at Swaziland Beverages in Matsapha.

Instead, the capital city giants, who were the inaugural winners of the competition in 2013, pulled out Manzini Sundowns in two-legged semi-finals slated for Sunday September 13 and 20 respectively.

Last year’s winners, Green Mamba, who were also seeded in the draw, were left with the daunting task of taking on on-form Royal Leopard in the other semi-final.

The event was graced by the presence of the tournament MC Chairman Peter Touch Magagula and Swaziland Beverages staff.
In what was a new innovation in the draw, Swallows and Green Mamba were seeded by virtue of being winners of the previous two editions. And Swallows Acting CEO Sibusiso Manana was called upon to pick any of the 340ml Castle Lager bottles which had Manzini Sundowns and Royal Leopard names written underneath each two of the four bottles. Manana opted for the second of the four bottles that had the ‘Kappa Boys’ name.

The tournament PRO Meshack Maseko said the first leg of the semi-finals would be held at Somhlolo National Stadium with the second leg’s venue yet to be confirmed.
Swallows’ Manana said the club had a mandate of featuring in all three cup finals and that it was unfortunate to Sundowns that they had to go past them.

“We respect Sundowns, but we do not fear anyone. They beat us in another competition recently (SwaziBank Cup quarter-finals in March) and we are going to prepare well this time to win the tie,” he said.
