LOBAMBA – Lanky striker Sandile Hlatjwako has been dropped from the Sihlangu team to face Malawi on Sunday.

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier first leg Group L game will be played at Somhlolo National Stadium.
Hlatjwako, who plies his trade at red and white glamour outfit Mbabane Swallows, is bereaved. He has already been released from camp.
Sihlangu are currently camped at the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Technical Centre.

The squad’s head coach, Harries ‘Madze’ Bulunga, confirmed the latest development yesterday shortly after the squad’s morning training session. The squad ignored the searing heat and took to the artificial turf for a gruelling two-hour training session in readiness for the game against the ‘Flames’, as the Malawi national team is affectionately known.

“We had no choice but to release him seeing that he has lost a close family member. We have been made to understand that he has lost someone they lived with at home, a very close relative and even though he was here and trained with the team yesterday (day before), we had to let him go to attend to the matter.

“It is a pity because the player had seemingly regained his fitness and was looking sharp. However we had no alternative but to release him because of this,” said Bulunga.

He sounded confident that the rest of the players called up for the clash would rise to the challenge and fill the void left by the lanky forward.
He is unlikely to be replaced.

Sihlangu currently sit on the summit of their Group L standings after a rare away win over Guinea in Morocco in the opening game. The squad is joint group leaders alongside Zimbabwe, who beat Malawi 2-1 in the other opening clash.
