MBABANE – Whether it was a good or bad omen was set to be known towards midnight but Mbabane Swallows had their fans win Castle Premier Challenge merchandise in a brief parade around the capital city by the eight teams’ PROs.

The E700 000 winner-takes-all knockout tournament kicked off last night at the Somhlolo National Stadium with a double-header involving Manzini Sundowns against Young Buffaloes and later Mbabane Swallows against Red Lions.
Hours before the games kicked off at 6.30pm at the country’s soccer Mecca, the involved top eight clubs’ PROs had a brief parade around the capital city, Mbabane, Matsapha and Manzini to sensitise fans to support the games at the reduced fee of E30 as opposed to the initial E40.

The parade started at Sigwaca House around lunch time, went through to Extension Three, Corporation, Msunduza then the bus rank whereby fans got excited at the officials’ sight and few found themselves winning T-shirts and cooler bags.
It turned out the five lucky fans all favoured Swallows. Today’s games will see Royal Leopard take on Malanti Chiefs while defending champions have a mammoth task against a strong Mbabane Highlanders side that is making its debut in the third edition of the knockout tournament.
