SD RAKES IN 19 MEDALS IN SARPCCO GAMES

LOBAMBA – Team Swaziland settled for overall third with 433 points with 19 medals in the SARPCCO Games.


SARPCCO is an acronym for Southern Africa Regional Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation.
The country hosted the ninth edition of the SARPCCO Games for the first time with the closing ceremony yesterday at Somhlolo National Stadium.
The country was represented by the Royal Swaziland Police and got five gold medals, three silver and 11 bronze medals at the games.


Zimbabwe topped the 13 participating countries with a whopping 56 medals - annexing 956 points while Namibia came second with 766 points and 40 medals.     


The playing venues for the games were Somhlolo National Stadium, Mavuso Sports Centre and the University of Swaziland (UNISWA) Sports Emporium.


Attending the closing ceremony was the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Edgar Hillary, who delivered the keynote address, Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs David ‘Cruiser’ Ngcamphalala, National Commissioner of Police Isaac Magagula and police chiefs from the participating countries.
The next SARPCCO Games will be in 2017 and the host nation is yet to be unveiled.
