MBABANE – ‘Dula Weseli’ is the Manzini Wanderers moniker and indeed it will not come cheap becoming a director at the maroon and white outfit.

It will cost one E100 000 to become a director at the hub giants. Dula means expensive.
Wanderers are targeting to have at least 10 new directors, something that could give the team a head start of E1 million ahead of the start of the new season.

A source close to the matter confided to this publication that a meeting scheduled for this weekend will be held by the club’s Council of Elders and the potential directors. The club, which recently hired coach Kenny Ndlazi as their new coach, is currently without directors after the departure of Managing Director Mduduzi Mabila last month.
It is being run by an interim MC headed by General Manager Sydney Nxumalo.

“The recruitment process has reached an advanced stage and there are potential people who have been approached. However, the club has proposed that each director should fork out at least E100 000 to be a member,” the source said.
One of the earmarked directors, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that they were made aware of the proposed E100 000 joining fee, but said they would wait for a formal briefing during the proposed meeting this weekend.
Council of Elders Chairman Sipho Ntshalintshali refused to divulge much information regarding the recruitment of directors, opting to state that everything was still underway. “The process is ongoing, but we are careful not to disclose anything to the public lest we jeopardise our plans. But we can assure that very soon we will be announcing who the new directors are,” he said.

He was quick to state that the team was currently run by the MC, elders and supporters.
“All the structures are in place, except for the directors who we are still working on. The team is training and people should not despair,” he said.
On Tuesday, Ntshalintshali told this publication that they were in the process of screening the individuals earmarked for the positions of directorship.

“We are still working on the matter and we are in the process of screening them because the candidates must have the interest of the team at heart and know the culture. Unfortunately, I cannot reveal the number of applications nor their names but this week we are meeting them separately. We are looking at having no less than 10 directors. Wanderers are a big brand with a huge following and we should finish the process before next week’s Swazi Telecom Charity Cup,” Ntshalintshali said.
