MBABANE – With barely six days to go before this year’s Swazi Telecom Charity Cup voting closes, teams are pulling out all stops to make the cut.

Army side Young Buffaloes have upped the tempo and are expected to amass over 350 000 votes if the latest order to soldiers is anything to go by.
Buffaloes want to be part of the four teams to feature in the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup Spectacular next Sunday.

The annual season opener is billed for Somhlolo National Stadium.
Reliable information gathered by this publication suggests that the latest order is to the effect that soldiers should contribute according to their ranks, with the lowest ranked contributing E100 each, while the highest- being the assistant commanders contribute E500 each.

Soldiers are at an estimated plus or minus 3 000 in the country and around E700 000 is set to be collected from the exercise.
This means that the army team that recently recalled Zenzele ‘Ace’ Dlamini to be head coach in the new season is guaranteed around 500 000 votes and are set to make the top four cut when lines are closed on Sunday at midnight.
Army Public Relations Officer Madoda Mkhatshwa confirmed that they were indebted to charity responsibility but referred further questions to Buffaloes PRO Sandile Gwebu.

“The Buffaloes PRO will be the right person to comment on the matter as these donations you are asking about are done for the team,” he said.
Buffaloes are an army team playing in the Premier League of Swaziland.

Gwebu said just like all citizens in the country, army personnel were committed to the Charity Cup cause but wondered why this information had to be made public as other teams did not declare where they got their votes.
Buffaloes have been a constant feature in the country’s traditional season opener in recent years but are yet to win the tournament.
The 2015 Charity Cup will be the 14th edition of the tournament and Mbabane Swallows are the defending champions after beating Royal Leopard in the final via a penalty shootout in last year’s tournament.
