MBABANE – With Inyatsi Construction Company leading the way by pumping E1.5 million to Mbabane Swallows, rivals Mbabane Highlanders are reportedly close to sealing their own with Stefanutti Stocks.

Stefanutti Stocks is a construction company based in Matsapha. Details of the deal are currently scanty but it can be said with authority that it is almost a done deal. Highlanders are already considering making them their main sponsor, taking over from Hyundai who had contributed an amount of E50 000 for the whole season.

When the club unveiled its Malawian coach Meck Mwase last Friday at the BPL Communications, his jersey was already branded SS (abbreviation) with the Stefanutti Stocks fully written below it. When questions were asked, Highlanders Managing Director Bheki ‘Rubber’ Simelane said they were in talks.

“This is just a sample of what we expect our sponsor’s brand to look like in our kit but for now, we’re negotiating because to get the main space must be reasonable money. A minimum E20 000 monthly can get a space on our kit but the sponsor who pumps more money gets the main space at the front,” explained the club’s PRO, Celucolo ‘Dino’ Dlamini.
He said Simelane was trying hard to bring a variety of sponsors into the team and still expects to sit on the round table with last season’s sponsors Hyundai with the hope of a better deal given the mileage the car company received in the past season.

“Hyundai will certainly be retained and still be on our kit but every deal has terms to improve so we hope to announce a new deal with them soon before we kick off the league season. Stefanutti Stocks has not yet given us figures but they have agreed to sponsor us with some monthly payments but the figure is what they must agree on with the MD,” he said.

Dlamini said Inyatsi has already led by example by sponsoring Swallows to a record E1.5m and Stefanutti was also a reputable company in the country but as a club they do not expect them to immediately pump as much as at least half a million per season. He said the talks would be finished soon but all parties were clear that the MD spends E70 000 to run the club, which is why more companies are invited to utilise this big chance for mileage through football.
Efforts to get comment from the company proved futile as their Director, Shaun White, is reportedly out of the country until tomorrow afternoon.
