MATSAPHA, NHL. CENTRAL IN U-13 FINALS

MANZINI – Nhlangano Central Primary beat favourites, St Mark’s by 2-1 to reach their second consecutive final of the SRIC Scara Thindwa Under-13s Schools Soccer Tournament.


The Manzini Club Sports Ground was a hive of activity as four teams battled it out for the final yesterday.  Bandile Dlamini and Sekwanele Dlamini ensured the defending champions survived a scare from the opposition who looked determined to make a dramatic comeback after trailing by 2-0. St Mark’s scored their consolation goal through Samkeliso Motsa.


Also in action were Matsapha Government who made light work of Lubombo based Njojane, winning by 2-0 to make their maiden appearance in the final. Trusted youngster, Ngcebo ‘Segolela’ Zwane, was under the spotlight after scoring again. Khanyakezwe Maziya scored the school team’s winning goal.


Coordinator Thoba Mazibuko said the finals would be played at Mavuso Sports Centre, starting at 10am.


Njojane and St Mark’s will curtain raise for the main match when they cross swords in a bronze medal match. The final will be played two hours later.
The tournament is sponsored by Swaziland Royal Insurance Corporation (SRIC) to a tune of E150 000.


The champions will get E15 000 in prizes while teams in second and third positions will benefit to the value of E10 000 and E5 000, in that order. The money is directed to schools’ sports developments programmes.
