MBABANE – This year’s Swazi Telecom Charity Cup participating teams have their work cut out for them, as they have to meet the set target of one million votes in just four weeks.

This year, the voting period has been significantly slashed as in past years, teams voted for a longer period. The target has not been changed as it has been one million votes in the past three years of the tournament that has become known as the Cup of Hope. Swazi Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC) Corporate Communications Manager Ncobile Magagula confirmed the set target yesterday.

“The target number of votes has not been changed from that of last year. It still stands at one million.”
The target changed to one million in 2012 after the supporters and teams were able to reach this milestone in the 2011 edition where the target had been 600 000 but on the final day of voting saw the votes shoot up to the standing record of over 1.5 million.

If the voting trend over the past four years is anything to go by, then this year’s target will once again be reached just like has been the case since 2011.
Meanwhile, the supporters and teams will really have to up their efforts not only to meet that benchmark, but also to see to it that their teams make it to the top-four bracket so as to play in the tournament, winners of which stand to pocket the E850 000 winner’s prize.
