LOBAMBA – The 2015 Swazi Telecom Charity Cup Gcwala Mo! Champions will take home a staggering E850 000 in just about 180 minutes of pulsating football.

This year’s tournament will be played in one day and will feature only four teams, unlike in the recent past years when the tournament would be played in two days over two weekends with six teams participating.

Originally, the season’s opener saw only four of most voting sides battle it out in a one-day spectacular. The six-team two-day tournament was only introduced in recent past years.

Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) Chairman, Victor ‘Maradona’ Gamedze announced during the tournament’s launch at Somhlolo National Stadium yesterday morning that the runners-up would pocket E400 000. This year’s edition has been sponsored to the tune of E2 658 500.
“For this year’s tournament, only the top two teams will have their Under-20 sides featuring because this year it will be played in one day.

I would have made a grave error not to thank SPTC for sponsoring the Under-20s as well. We are grateful to the company for their continued involvement and support of football.

“This is clear testimony that the company has a very smart board, which has seen it fit to partner with football. It is also good to note that SPTC continues to meet my set standards on sponsorship as PLS Chairman, said Gamedze as the gathering applauded.
Also present during the function was the Deputy Prime Minister Paul Dlamini, who delivered the keynote address.

Gamedze also hailed the cabinet and individuals who have continuously supported the sports, in particular those that have recently pledged incentives to Sihlangu.
Last year, the tournament was won by red and white glamour giants, Mbabane Swallows who beat police ensemble Royal Leopard in the final in front of a packed-to-the-rafters Somhlolo National Stadium.
