MANZINI – Former Mbabane Swallows’ Mozambican dribbling wizard Antonio ‘Talo Talos’ Masicane has commended the country’s on-the-rise football standard, likening it to their heyday.

‘Talos’ was part of the Mbabane Swallows legends team that played in the Lions Charity Organisation tournament this past Saturday at the Manzini Club. He was playing when Swallows beat capital city rivals Highlanders in the second semi-final of the tournament. “I’ve been following football here in Swaziland from Mozambique so I can tell you that the standard is fast rising now. To me it is now going back to the days when we were

playing where it was not easy to win silverware but worked hard for it with every club always exciting and competitive,” he said. He said from club to national team level, there had been significant change which was good because people want to go to the stadium to watch highly competitive football. He said the national team Sihlangu’s revamp was a big positive for the country’s football as it was getting recognition world over. On the legends tournament, he said it was a great idea especially because it reunited them and presented the opportunity to catch up as former elite league players.
He thanked the organisers for the tournament and said he would be ready to come again if another was hosted.
